Introducing Pinelab: Where Backyard Magic Begins
Share
There’s something special about growing up in a Kiwi backyard.
Bare feet on fresh grass. Salt still in your hair from a morning surf. Mud pies served with absolute confidence. Kids running full speed toward adventure (and occasionally toward trouble).
It’s the kind of childhood we loved — and the kind we want our kids to have too.
So we're building something to celebrate it.
How Pinelab Started
Pinelab was born in our Papamoa backyard, not far from the beach where we can hear the waves roll in.
We’re a family who lives outside:
Surfing, kayaking, boating, hiking, bush walking, eating good food, making messes, and raising kids who treat every day like an adventure movie.
With Jarad’s builder brain (and his obsession with high-quality finishes) and Cass’s creative vision (colours, design, ideas everywhere), we wanted to create something that felt like us — something fun, rugged, beautiful, imaginative and totally Kiwi.
So we looked at our own kids and asked:
“What would they love? What would we have loved growing up?”
The answer:
A play kitchen built for the outdoors — one that could survive mud, storms, sand, sun, imagination, and children with absolutely no chill.
Meet the First Piece of the Pinelab Story
The first Pinelab kitchen is crafted from real timber, designed for outdoor fun, and made right here in our backyard.
It has:
- A real working tap
- A stainless-steel sink + scoop
- A cute café-style serving window
- Chunky knobs for enthusiastic little chefs
- Custom-cut legs (so the kitchen grows with your kid)
- A strong, sturdy frame
- And — equally important — it’s easy for parents to move around the yard
This isn’t flimsy plastic.
This is proper Kiwi-made gear, built with pride and built to last.
Why We Created Pinelab
Because our kids love the outdoors.
Because imagination matters.
Because childhood should be full of messy, magical moments.
Because we wanted something fun, beautiful, safe, and sturdy — something that actually looks good in your backyard and can handle the chaos that comes with raising little explorers.
And honestly?
Because our kids wanted a pineapple logo — and when your kids ask for something that fun, you just roll with it.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning.
More play kitchens.
More backyard magic.
More handcrafted, Kiwi-made pieces inspired by adventure, creativity, and the kind of childhood memories that last a lifetime. We’re so excited to share this journey with you.
Welcome to Pinelab.
Where mud pies, leafy potions, and imaginations run wild.
